A breathtaking show celebrating resilience and Québec solidarity with music and an impressive celestial light show using drones.

This year’s opening show will pay homage to our strength and our collective determination, and will celebrate the joy that
provides a long-awaited gathering.

As part of the unique and colourful choreography, drones will paint the night sky with stunning images and patterns telling of the challenges we have faced, the resilience that we have shown and, ultimately, the unity that we are proud of.

This breathtaking visual show will be emphasized by the music and lyrics of Quebec artists spanning several decades, from Jean-Pierre Ferland to Leonard Cohen, via Cœur de Pirate and Marie-Mai.

“My name is Bond … James Bond.” For the grand finale this year, spectators are invited to travel dangerously in the company of their favorite spy of all time! This most original pyromusical production  plunges us into the adventures of the most celebrated spy,  James Bond. From Dr. No to Specter, the soundtracks are a succession of hits, from Shirley Bassey to Paul McCartney, from Tina Turner to Madonna and Adele, and many others. Founded in 1895 by Paolo Rozzi, ROZZI’S FAMOUS FIREWORKS is a family-owned fireworks company that has competed in Montreal six times. The company is known for its incomparable products, spectacular fireworks and impressive finales. Panzera, a family business created in the early twentieth century, is back in Montreal for a 32nd time. Maestro Giovanni Panzera, first artistic director of the Montreal competition, held this position from 1987 to 2000. Last year, the two companies  jointly produced the fireworks celebrating the 375th anniversary of Montréal.

Italian Dream

Does Italy reminds you of romance? The country of the Dolce Vita gives you an appointment to live the Italian dream. Since it is commonly accepted that dreaming of Italy makes love sparkle, you will not dare miss your appointment with the amore by attending this beautiful show prepared by Giuliani Fireworks. During this display, you will be enveloped by these songs: Non mi avete fatto niente, Occidentali’s Karma and Grande Amore, winning music of the last three editions of the famous contest Italian Song Contest of the Festival of San Remo. Italy’s performance will be powerful, colourful and romantic. Come and live the Sogno Italiano, the “Italian dream” with Giuliani Fireworks, founded more than 100 years ago, and which has presented more than 200 international pyromusical shows around the world including in Milan, Monte Carlo and during the 23rd edition of the Rome Festival in 2016.

Rock Loves – redux

Pyrotecnico, who won gold in Montreal in 2008, is back for the second time with a full-energy show entitled “Rock Loves … redux!”. Thanks to its innate sense of innovation, creativity and precision, Pyrotecnico brings a whole new dimension to this pyromusical show. The soundtrack is full of rock and pop hits from Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Muse, Florence and the Machine, not to mention the legendary bands The Doors, Poison, and Guns N ‘Roses. Pyrotecnico has been part of the fireworks world since 1889 when Constantino Vitale founded his fireworks company in Italy. He immigrated to the United States in 1920 and settled in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a small town that is now recognized as the US fireworks capital! In the 1990s, the company took the name of Pyrotecnico.

This is the first participation for Apogée  in Montreal as a competitor, the company having also  created the opening display of the 32nd edition in 2016. The company was founded in 2001 by Alain Carbonneau, a renowned international producer of pyromusicals. Since 1995, these achievements have amazed audiences around the world, including Shanghai, Berlin, Monaco, Seoul and The Philippines. For their first time in competition, Apogée invites viewers to a journey into their musical memories by offering a tribute to giants of music who have recently passed away. The Immortals is a magnificent 30-minute pyromusical show featuring hits of The Cranberries, The Tragically Hip, David Bowie, Prince, Johnny Hallyday, and Patrick Bourgeois, singer of the Montreal band BB, as well as  the legendary Leonard Cohen. The list of awards that Apogée has won is impressive, including first prize in 2008 and bronze in 2012 at the Pyronale competition in Berlin, and first prize in 2010 at Fiocchi di Luce in Asiago, Italy.
