This is the first participation for Apogée  in Montreal as a competitor, the company having also  created the opening display of the 32nd edition in 2016. The company was founded in 2001 by Alain Carbonneau, a renowned international producer of pyromusicals. Since 1995, these achievements have amazed audiences around the world, including Shanghai, Berlin, Monaco, Seoul and The Philippines. For their first time in competition, Apogée invites viewers to a journey into their musical memories by offering a tribute to giants of music who have recently passed away. The Immortals is a magnificent 30-minute pyromusical show featuring hits of The Cranberries, The Tragically Hip, David Bowie, Prince, Johnny Hallyday, and Patrick Bourgeois, singer of the Montreal band BB, as well as  the legendary Leonard Cohen. The list of awards that Apogée has won is impressive, including first prize in 2008 and bronze in 2012 at the Pyronale competition in Berlin, and first prize in 2010 at Fiocchi di Luce in Asiago, Italy.
