The hottest and must humid night of the competition this year was the backdrop for the awards ceremony and the jury correctly gave the Gold Jupiter to the clear winner this year. The French team had an almost flawless setup and enjoyed the best conditions of the season (with the least amount of smoke accumulation) for their dazzling debut in Montreal. The soundtrack award was also well merited. At the end of the awards an announcement was made that the 39th edition would be running in 2025. The capacity audience in the grandstands then got to sit back, one more time, and enjoy the closing display, despite the wind being in a somewhat adverse direction.

Tribute to Coldplay

This out-of-competition closing display was a tribute to the renowned British band, Coldplay. With a different musical aesthetic, compared to the recent more rock-and-roll triburtes, Paul Csukassy’s masterfully mixed soundtrack was brilliantly accompanied by dazzling products from the Italian manufacturer, Panzera SRL, who have long been a special associate of the competition. Featuring many new products, including dazzling colour-changing disco shells as well as medusas, we were treated to a colourful feast that filled the sky and included a tip-of-the-hat to the classic Rozzi “skymine”. The display featured a large range of beautiful colours and effects and great use was made of the space. The collaboration between uncle and nephew worked really well and played to each of their strengths, building to a pure Italian-style finale, to the delight of the audience. A memorable end to a really excellent year of competition.
