Tonight's display will have the largest number of cues ever recorded in Montreal, with 8727. We are also told that there will be 10,084 products fired during the show, which is a very impressive number. Around 7900 of these are one-shots, with yet more shots in around 200 candles.

However, we should recall the displays of the late 1990s, early 2000s. In those days, cue counts were low (if electronically fired) at around 2000 or so, but very large numbers of Roman Candles were used. In Panzera's closing show in 2000, there were 2000 candles, of which 1000 of them were 10-shot bombettes. That's equivalent to 10,000 small shells. If we assume the rest of the candles were 8-shot, that's 8000 star/comet shots in addition to the 10,000 bombettes for a product count of over 18,000, not including shells. So we might assume, with a guess of 1500 shells of larger calibre, the total "shot/product" count for that show was close to 20,000 - or about 2x as many as we will see tonight. Of course, the style was very difference and tonight's show will be impressive, but it's always good to have some perspective.

Paul.
