This was the first time this happened, I mean the delay. I never seen that happen before, but I guess it was for safety purposes due to the wind. None the less, it was a good display and the ending was very good. Only little problem was the synchranization, which you had mentioned in your report. If it had fired during the normal time zone it wouldn't have had rain problems. Kinda reminded me of Canada in recent years. You didn't show up for Canada in 1995, you said in that year's report "Due to torrential rain, I did not attend this show." I remember it very well that year and all I could say was poor Canada again!!! At least England only had rain for about 10 minutes. That year there was thunder and lightning and massive amounts of rain. Luckily you did not come. It was bad, very bad that day.

Anyway, England did a good job and hopefully the weather and time delay won't be taken into consideration because I really hope they make 3rd place.

By the way, my name is Travis, call me trav. and I just recently wrote my predictions in the 2003 rankings section before I commented on England. And now I will make my final prediction:
Canada:Gold
Italy:Silver
England:Bronze Australia or U.S could squeeze in there if the weather conditions are taken into consideration.

I've been reading your reports for the past 8 to 9 years and from what I see, you have my tastes and for the most part, I agreed with you.

By the way as I mentioned beore in the 2003 section, please fill me in about the massive smoke incedent during the Canada display, there was indeed a lot of smoke. I live in the west island and on my way back on the 720 west there was incredible amounts of smoke and I asumed that was from the Canadian display. Please reply here or where I wrote my other message, oh yeah, almost forgot, where do you watch the fireworks? Since I have been coming since 1990, I watched it from Lorimier and Notre-Dam intersection near the bridge. I'm big Fireworks fan as u probably guest. I been coming since i was 5 or 6 and now I am 19. Anyway, please reply soon and I look foward to your opinion on the winners this year. It is tough to make the dicisions this year for sure!!!

Thanks,

Trav

I watch the fireworks from the Silver section at La Ronde - one of the perks of being an official journalist. I used to watch the fireworks from the same place you do, and was stood down there in 1993, 1994 and 1995. From 1996 onwards, I was given press credentials and have been on-site at La Ronde ever since.

As for the smoke after the Canadian display, yes there was a lot. Both because of the wind direction and the fact that the air was quite humid - this always makes the smoke thicker.
