Vander,

I'm also impressed by this great line-up. I have two questions:

1) How long are these displays?
2) Who assess these displays?

The displays are just 18 minutes long and they are judged by the head of the organizing company, a few representatives from the major sponsors, and sometimes by some celebrities.

For this competition, Fireworks Spectaculars has presented a show made of segments from both their 2007 and 2010 montreal shows and one segment with the song "Let it Rain". It could have been the best show but it looked like there were some unexplainable synchronization problems in the first 5-8 minutes.

Here's a video of their performance:

Fireworks Spectacular's display striked me as kind of odd, considering the usual style of Brad Dezotell, who strives to avoid repetition.

In this display, though, mines with a final blue comet star effect, various types of horsetails and "cauliflower"-effect crackling shells are repeated throughout.

Yet, the finale was very intense, with various shell types featured in the last minutes alone. This was a staple of Fireworks Spectaculars' winning entry in Montreal, and I'm glad to see it was put to good use in PIPC.

So, my question to Vander is : are the products supplied by the participant or the organizers ? Are there constraints on the participant's display that imposes a particular firing style to the designers ?

The products are chosen by the participants

Wow, that was fast ! I was editing my post to add another question, but you beat me to the punch !

lol! to answer the second question, there's not much constraints to the competition other than the products needing to come from China and the firing system could be a constraint since the firms would have to pay for the shipment/transport etc. of their firing systems. However if they choose to just use the ones provided by the organizers, i think that they are limited to just 70 firing modules.
