An employee of La Ronde, 67 y.o., died this afternoon, strucked by a train of the Vampire. For those who are not familiar with the rides, the Vampire is an inverted roller coaster, with a yellow track and purple supports, located on the left side of the firing ramps (when you watch the shows). For an unknown reason, the worker was in a restricted area as the ride was running.

The show must go on, and La Ronde remains open with the Swiss show scheduled tomorrow. While the worker was presumably not involved in the fireworks competition, it is likely that many people involved in the competition, especially La Ronde pyro crew, knew him.

Deepest sympathy.

Fred

I heard about this earlier today on CTV news - what a tragedy, indeed.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Trav.
