The organization of the ATP/WTA Masters 1000 Tennis tournament which begins next week, has announced a 12-minute show made with 500 drones in the surrounding of Montreal Old Port around 9:15pm tonight. It is not clear to what extent it will be visible from La Ronde, though.

They claim to be environmentally friendly by distancing themselves from fireworks, but take the opportunity provided by the fireworks competition to promote the event to the crowd gathering there for the fireworks…

Drones are no "greener" than fireworks if you take everything into account. The least green aspect of any event is the people getting there and back anyway.

I don't know whether it was due to the rain, or because the angle from La Ronde, but I didn't see any drone towards the Old Port area tonight, from my spot in the grandstands.
