Do you guys think that they'll post the grand finale, like last year? And is there a way we can download all the finales from each displays? I'm particulalry looking for IPON's and Caballer's and Panzera, but hopefully at an angle without a lot of the smoke build up. Not just the finales, but I would also like to get some of the creative parts, particularly the tower use in Holland's display and since I missed Germany, I would like to get some more clips of them, especially the live orchestra and waterfall effects. I've already seen it in action in their finale, but I would like to see more.

Thx, badnitrus for putting them up for download! And thanks Enkil for the others. And, of course, thank you, Paul, for the other clips you posted!

I've got some downloading to do! these will be great next to the clips of 2003's displays!

Best regards,

Trav.

Never mind, the clips have everything that I'm looking for. I just have to get the finales somehow! Enkil, you're right, they are kinda short compared to the ones of last year. BTW, does anyone know if this year's Panzera finale was longer than last year's? I know lat year was around almost 2 minutes.

Thanks, badnitrus.

The more we have, the better! I'm searching the Mondial SAQ website and looking for more additional clips. I'll also try to E-Mail them to see if they can post the finales for each display.

Once again, thx, and thanks to everyone who posted the others!

Regards,

Trav.

Wow, I am SO glad that we can view portions of this year's firework displays. Thank you so much guys! Like Smoke, I would love to see the finales of all the displays.

I have a few finales saved on my computer, that were taken with my digital camera. I also have the one from the closing fireworks on July 28th, from La Ronde. Those I have are in .mov format and don't know how to transfer them into .wmv.....maybe someone can help, so I can share what I have with all of you?

Pierre

Posted: Aug 2, 2004 13:53:08

Pierre,

The .mov format should be fine for most players - in fact, I think more people will be able to view them in .mov format compared to .wmv - if you need somewhere to host them, you can send them to me via email and I'll put them up on the montreal-fireworks.com website. Use "webmaster@montreal-fireworks.com" as the email address.

Cheers,

Paul.

Posted: Aug 2, 2004 18:28:37

Ooh, I'd love to see those finales!
Don't worry about the .mov format, most of the internet users can handle it.

Bye

Posted: Aug 3, 2004 08:10:42

Pierre,

Did you have any luck getting the Panzera finale without the smoke in the way? Where did you watch from?

Anyways, I'm glad that you were able to catch it! I'm so happy to get so many finales! It really brings back the good old days! I can just watch them over and over again!

Thx everyone!

Best regards,

Trav.

Hmmm... I'm having some problems with low disc space on my computer, do it will take a few days before my clips are online... But then i can provide from the Caballer and Panzera show. Our German friends has already uploaded some of the best parts of the other shows i saw

Meanwhile i can supply a AVI-version of Kimboltons finale last year as well as a finale from the italian championship in San Remo last year:

Kimbolton Fireworks:
http://hoejens.dk/finales/kimbolton_finale.AVI

Italian firm Fuochi di Chiarenza: (really good! )
http://hoejens.dk/finales/chiarenza_finale1.AVI
http://hoejens.dk/finales/chiarenza_finale2.AVI

I have more clips from these fireworks and another great finale, but i don't have enough space to host them on our own webserver, unfortnately

Lars

Hey Badnitrus.

I have recorded 7 of the 10 finales this year. Only Italy, Holland and France's displays I don't have

All the others, I am trying to send to Paul, but the files are too large to send from my account.....I am sure that Paul will find a way, so that I can share all those files with all of you guys. Hopefully, you will get to see my recordings soon!

Bye for now!

Hey Smoke!

Yes, in a way, I did succeed in getting the last firework's finale without the smoke being a total nuisance. Actually, from where I was standing, the shells exploded just below the huge cloud that seemed to be moving upwards towards the end of the display. I was standing on the bridge, just over La Ronde. Even though the smoke was hardly moving, I did manage to take a decent clip of the finale, so I guess I was lucky that evening.

Like you, I am SO glad to be able to see all those clips of the different finales that I missed. This forum is such a great opportunity to talk about my love for fireworks and to get to exchange with all of you, my thoughts on the subject.....and to be able to relive the whole competition once again, through the clips and memories shared in here.

Question to all:

Is the 2004 clip from the Italian team (IPON S.R.L.) on the Mondial SAQ website, a portion of the display, or is it the finale?

Thanks

Pierre

Posted: Aug 4, 2004 20:26:13

Pierre,

I believe that it's a piece of the show, not the finale, although I wish it was the finale! I'm hoping for someone to post the finale for IPON on the Mondial SAQ or on this forum. It would really be nice to have it, along with Caballer's thriller ending!

Regards,

Trav.

I'll put up Caballers finale when my disc space cooperates

Lars

Posted: Aug 6, 2004 06:34:16

Thx Lars!

One question. Do you think it would work with Real One Player application format? I'm pretty sure it will, though.

Anyways, thanks a lot! The reason why I want this so bad is because badnitrus made a great effort in filming the ending, however the batteries went out at the climax! It's not his fault, it's the batteries! This is why the entire finale will be greatly appreciated!

In fact, in my opinion, this was the most intense and longest finale all year, even more than the Panzera finale! It would be great to see it over and over!

Once again, thx!

Regards,

Trav.

Lars.

I can host your file on montreal-fireworks.com so you needn't worry about disc space. I also have another server with 500Mbytes of storage free that I can use as well.

Cheers,

Paul.

Pierre,

I'm so happy that you've gotten these finales and decided to share them with us, especially me, since I'm a big finale fanatic, as I'm sure everybody on this forum is! It's a shame that no one recorded IPON's finale, though! This was ranked the best finale, well, next to Caballer. Anyways, I would love to get these to add to my collection! I still have the 2003 displays recorded, so now, I'll add these! Thx a lot. I really REALLY appreciate it.

I just want to see those finales! Especially Caballer and IPON! I could watch those over and over again!

BTW, just of curiosity.....but did you manage to get the Panzera ending without a lot of smoke, or was it spoilt? I also want to see this one in particular because it was really obscured by the smoke and thus, I, and many others, didn't enjoy it! And I'm still hoping that someone actually got Italy!

Regards,

Trav.

Hi Trav.

First, let me tell you that there is no way I would not share what I have with all of you! We are all fireworks fanatics, so why not give each other extra pleasure, by living those precious moments once again?!? It's really my pleasure to share my recordings with you.

Like you, I am a huge finale lover. Everytime I attend a firework display, I constantly check my watch to see how close we are to 22:30. I always wait for the finale with great anticipation. When comes 22:28, I feel butterflies in the pit of my stomach....
What kind of finales do I like? I want them LOUD AND BLINDING! I want to feel the bridge move under my feet ( I always stand on the bridge to watch the fireworks). I specially love when the speed increases slowly, but constantly. I like to think that it cannot get any more intense and be proven totally wrong. I never want a finale to end....the longer the better! Most of all, a finale must be loaded with salutes. Those are a must for me. I want hundreds of thousands of salutes to fill the sky constantly, I want them everywhere, I want them to dominate the sky and cover the music entirely.....even cover my screams of pure pleasure....LOL Yes, this is when I start to lose control and to feel the fireworks in my chest. Deafening and blinding finales, fill me with energy.

This year, I could not attend to three displays...the one from Holland and France because held on Wednesday, since I start work very early in the morning (I still managed to attend the one by Panzera, because I did not want to miss the last one, knowing I would have to wait another 10 months and a half for the next display ) . Very sadly, I missed the one from Italy (IPON), held on the same day that I was invited for a garden party. Every year, a coworker invites all of us at the office, for a garden party at her countryside house, an hour and a half drive outside Montreal. Every year, I always had something else planned, so this year, I could not find an excuse not to go, so I accepted the invitation. I had'nt realised that IPON was the one representing Italy that evening, the same one who represented Italy back in 1998 (my favorite finale as of yet)!!!

I just wish I could turn back time and choose Italy's display instead....by the report Paul gave us and by all of the members' comments, I missed and excellent display and an opportunity to record it!

So there you go, Trav. Sorry I don't have IPON's finale, but you'll get to see Caballer's though.

To answer your question about the Panzera ending, it is hard to say how much the smoke covers the shells. I'd say that you can see 80% of what was exploding on my recording. The cloud of smoke was slowly rising and was positionned just above the area where the shells were exploding (you'll see it clearly on the clip). No shells seemed to explode behind the cloud of smoke from where I was standing. Somehow, I think the finale can be clearly seen on my clip, even though the conditions were not favorable. You'll be the judge.

Have a great weekend

Pierre

Pierre,

I'm happy to hear that you're also a big finale type of person.

I'm also pleased to hear that you have the same tastes as me, and I assume everybody else on this forum, in a great ending! Your right in the way it should be done! I like the loudness, the brightness, the build up, lots of colour, tons of salutes and massive gigantic shells, different variations of shells, like the hearts, rings and butterflies, and, of course, the longevity and the pace! An ending of over 2 minutes would be out of this world, like Caballer! A perfect example of my expectations! It should start off slow, then quickly move on! Also, I forgot to mention, to add an incredible faux finale to fool the audience to think it's over, and then start the real thing! These are the requirements for me! A finale should leave me breathless, excited and should get me screaming, not to mention to give something to never forget! Kinda like Spain 2001 or even IPON 1998, as you mentioned. There were a lot of crazy finales in the 90's also, like U.S.A in 1995 and another one for me was Spain and Canada in 1992!

Anyways, despite all that, I thank you, once again, for kinly letting us see the finales again!

It truly makes you think that you're back in the competition again!

As for the Panzera ending, 80% is far better than the 20-30% that I saw on Notre-Dame! No wind at all, that evening! That was one big cloud of smoke! Enkil and I were very disppointed, and I'm sure thousands of others were, too! It wasn't the display, it was the lack of cooperation from the weather that was to blame! The heavy humidity and lack of wind was the concern! What a way to end the 20th anniversary!

Oh yes, Enkil, thanks for posting those links, as well! I'll check them out right away! I wonder if they have Italy's ending................????

Best regards,

Trav.

Posted: Aug 7, 2004 14:55:48

no, theres no Italy ending

unfortunatly, they only put the ending of Panzera

the thing i hate about mondialsaq.com is that the clips r very very short, about 1-1:30min, i think 5min would be good enough, im sure they have alot of space and bandwidth

Posted: Aug 8, 2004 08:52:21

It has nothing to do with space and bandwidth but everything to do with the music rights. Anything longer than about 1 minute would mean that royalties have to be paid to the performers of the music. This is a very difficult area and so we're lucky that there are even clips of 1 minute. I think they make a special effort for the Panzera finale since everyone likes it so much and, it being the "in house" team, it's probably easier to figure out the rights issues.

As for space and bandwidth, you guys would be amazed how much bandwidth and space is required to host even the small clips. For the clips that Pierre sent me, they take up 173Mbytes and you guys sucked up over 1.2 Giga bytes of bandwidth yesterday alone! I have a limit of 5Gbytes per day but it doesn't take long to get to that level with such huge files.

Paul.

Posted: Aug 8, 2004 10:41:46   Edited by: Enkil

i see that, Paul

so u have 5GB limit, and we downloaded 1.2 GB, so were not near the limit, but im sure as the days passes it will calm down

i said that they have alot of space and bandwidth becuz many internet provider that can provide a good bandwidth limit and good amount of space, like ures

mondialsaq.com doesnt really need to add the music if its that difficult to have the rights

they could just show the fireworks with the sound of the explosions, i love the sound, i couldnt imagine fireworks without the booms

but thats just my opinion, maybe after all, it takes alot of money to host them

Posted: Aug 9, 2004 08:37:10

Trav,

One week later almost - sorry

I actually don't know but it will be compatible with mediaplayer for sure...

Lars

Posted: Aug 10, 2004 07:23:54

Lars,

No big deal. We have lots of clips to watch, including some of yours and especially the finales that Pierre posted!Did you watch those?

Anyways, don't worry about the media player because some of them work on Real One Player format and some others, like the finales that Pierre posted, are compatible to Quick Time player application formats.

Thank you for everything! We've been getting quite afew clips to watch!

Regards,

Trav.
