My Dad used this every 4th to get the kids Att. that the works was about to start....... but dont know what it was... it went way up and all there was if you were looking at it was a round ball and a big and i mean big Bang really loud!! and us kids knew the Works were on the way..... For my kids now I would like to know What that was. Thanks Terry

I think that you're refering to a "salute." Those types of fireworks are commonly used in intense areas of an intense segment, particularly in a typical finale. Spain and Italy uses them quite a bit and usually us phenominal in the end result.
