Spain's Pirotecnia Caballer - Vicente Caballer competes for a Platinum Jupiter

The Spanish colour Montreal's skies with
the greatest music from three generations

Montreal, July 9, 2004 - At 10 p.m. on Saturday July 10, the master pyrotechnicians from Spain's legendary firm, Pirotecnia Caballer - Vicente Caballer, will attempt to capture the hearts of Montrealers with their flamboyant presentation "Music of my heart (to Leandro)," a touching tribute to Leandro, Vicente's son-in-law who recently died from cancer, as well as all those who lost their lives in the March 11 terrorist attacks in Madrid. To mark the occasion, and encourage his country in its pursuit of the platinum Jupiter, Spain's Consul General in Montreal, Mr. Arturo Reig Tapia, will deliver a speech on the floating stage of La Ronde's Lac des Dauphins during the opening ceremonies at 9:30 p.m.

Based near Valencia, Spain, Pirotecnia Caballer - Vicente Caballer was founded in 1880 by Vicente Calatayud. Today, the Spanish firm possesses several pyrotechnical plants equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and is considered one of the worldwide leaders for producing and exporting pyrotechnics.

In the last century, Spain's leading pyrotechnical company has participated in multiple large-scale international events, winning the highest distinctions around the globe. This Spanish firm has participated in the Montreal International Fireworks Competition six times, winning five Jupiters, including Gold Jupiters in 1986 and 1993. This year, the firm hopes to take home the elusive Platinum Jupiter.

Accompanied by a moving narration featuring the voices of a grandfather, father and young girl who is celebrating her twentieth birthday, "Music of my heart (to Leandro)" will captivate audiences with a sentimental family reunion where the main characters reminisce over great moments in their lives to the stirring sounds of nine great musical classics played over the family record player. The chronological musical journey will broach three generations of great classics, from Frank Sinatra to Charles Aznavour to John Williams and Robbie Williams.

Specially created by Rafael GarcÌa Barat using La Ronde's infrastructures, the presentation of "Music of my heart (to Leandro)" will play out over 9 pyromusical segments corresponding to nine musical selections-each segment will be themed with a special colour. Spectators will observe that Pirotecnia Cabeller - Vicente Caballer's pyrotechnicians will use all the ramps and barges at their disposal to create a sense of uniformity through a series of breathtaking effects.

During the presentation, Pirotecnia Cabeller - Vicente Caballer will present a varied display of fireworks and effects that include Kamuros (spherical bombs), Studantos (cylindrical mosaic bombs), water displays, as well as set pieces created especially for this event-a white column of fire that symbolizes peace.

"Le Mondial SAQ" is produced by La Ronde in partnership with the Société des alcools du Québec. For more information, call (514) 397-2000 or visit our Web our Web site at www.lemondialsaq.com.
