The website of the Société des attractions touristiques du Québec now indicates the start and end dates of the 35th edition of the competition, as well as the total number of fireworks displays. Thus, eight shows are reportedly scheduled to run from Saturday, June 29th to Saturday, July 27th:

If these dates are correct, the 2019 closing show would be the earliest one since 1998.

Currently, La Ronde website doesn't present any official information.

As usual, that's great detective work Fred! I'm happy that the competition is going to start earlier next year - it felt very late in 2018!

Thanks, once again, Fred!

I have a feeling that the first display will, again, be an opening.

While many items on this La Ronde page replicate the 2018 information, it seems that show #1 will be an off-competition display, once again, this year. "Country #1" is listed for the 2nd show:

I came back from Fallas yesterday and my next pyro-destination could be Montreal again. Havent you heard any news about which companies are in the program this season? Hints, clues, something?

I would say Brezac will be there with the new designer from Alpha, and hopefully Howards and Sons will put on the show we deserved in 2018

Oh yes! Is it official? I think it will be a classic line up with some very good companies.

I would say Hanhwa corp, Luso and Howards are locked.

Not sure about the others

The list of countries is pleasing me A LOT

The “buy tickets” module within La Ronde official website is going through an update process this morning. The calendar confirms the aforementioned list of countries.

The full information about the specific contestants is likely going to be released within the next hours.

The full schedule has not been released yet. I don't expect it during the Easter weekend, so it going to be one of the latest release date, possibly the latest, in the competition history.

Ticket links for gold section seem to be working and show logos are up on ticket buying page. The non-gold sections do appear to be general admission on the seating chart.

Also, the logo for the opening show is up and is a cassette tape with 1985 on it.

It is likely that opening has a “retro” theme: 1985 is the year of the establishment of the competition. However, it is somewhat strange that logo for the closing show is “25”...

Maybe the '' 25 '' closing show is for the 25 anniversary of the Casino de Montréal ... lets hope the official info come out soon !

This a very very good line up. Most of the companies are jupiter winners and those who are not are in my all time fav displays. It is like silver and bronze jupiter winners fighting in one season for the gold. Im super happy with Hanhwa, Luso, Atlas and of course Howard and Sons. Parente will put on a good show for sure, ive seen some segments of their 2003 show and it looked really promising.

It is surprising there is not a first time competing company in the schedule. Im a very nostalgic guy so to me its not bad at all.

With an off-competition opening display, once again, only six contestants will compete for the sixth year in a row. However, it is an interesting line-up, with some intriguing (and duplicated?) themes.

The Ontarian company Hands Fireworks will launch the 35th edition with nostalgia, presumably with musics from the mid-1980s. Interestingly, this is only the second appearance of Hands Fireworks in the Montreal International Fireworks Competition, their debut display being in... 1985!

The line-up doesn't include any recruit. We have one Gold Jupiter winner (Atlas, 2012), Silver and Bronze Jupiter winners (Grupo Luso Pirotecnia, Silver 2002 and 2012; BEM, Bronze 2005; Howard & Sons, Silver 2008, Bronze 2011), and contestants who are still looking for their first Jupiter award (Hanwha and Parente). I am particularly excited by the Grupo Luso Pirotecnia, whose previous shows have been especially creative. On the basis of their previous performances, Atlas Pyro Vision and Howard & Sons are certainly two anticipated shows as well.

At least two of these companies have experienced major transportation issues in the past. In 2008, the South Korean Hanwha had to redesign its show with products from local suppliers (mostly GFA, if a correctly remember). In 2018, Howard & Sons cancelled its participation in late June due to the same type of issue. It is not a surprise to discover this Australian entrant on the schedule this year, with the same theme than the one announced in 2018.

The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 spaceflight to the Moon is a source of inspiration for some of the fireworks designers. BEM Feux d'artifice will fire its show “A First Walk on the Moon” on July 20th, the date of the 50th anniversary of the landing and the first human walk on the lunar surface, which happened the evening of July 20, 1969, at 10:56pm Eastern Time. BEM has previously presented pyromusical displays with strong narratives, and this one is probably no exception. Two weeks before, the Italian company Parente will present “One Step - Moon Dream”, which seems to be inspired by the same event.

I am especially curious to know more about Grupo Luso Pirotecnia's theme, ”Stay tuned.” I predict a soundtrack inspired by radio and/or television, as the term is common in broadcasting.

I wonder to what extent Montreal will be the focus of the South Korean show. The French title (“Rêver à Montréal”) is less precise than the English one (“Dreaming in Montreal”). It could be about Montréal or anything else. I also wonder what the soundtrack of the closing show will be (artists who have performed at the Casino, maybe?). This theme is somewhat a departure from what the “Finale des étoiles” series is, that is, a tribute to a famous artist or group. The corporate concerns are obvious here, as the Casino is owned and operated by Loto-Québec, the Montreal competition sponsor. Well, the partnership between Rozzi's Famous Fireworks and Panzera had led to interesting shows in the previous years, so let's be optimistic!

I can't wait for the beginning of this new season!

One week ago I bought my flight to Montreal, I will be there again this season, from the Korean show to the Usa one. I will miss the Australian display which Im sure will be a good one, but I couldnt spend one more week in Montreal so I had too choose between the first contestants and the last ones. Hard decision actually, but I really want to see Luso and Hanwha so ... Hope I made a good decision.
