Pyromusical excellence rewarded at La Ronde's International des Feux Loto-Québec

MONTREAL, July 29 /CNW Telbec/ - At 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, the
efforts, talent and ingenuity of the fireworks companies competing in the
21st Montréal International Fireworks Competition will be rewarded at the much-
anticipated unveiling of the winners of the Golden, Silver and Bronze
Jupiters. To close the 2005 season of the International des Feux Loto-Québec,
closing its second decade of lighting up the Montréal skies, La Ronde will
toss its last colourful bouquet during a spectacular pyromusical celebration
presented by Panzera S.A.S.
La Ronde has welcomed nine high-calibre fireworks companies since
June 18. One by one, they have put their imagination and talent to the test,
painting Montréal's skies with sophisticated and subtle fireworks displays.
With a record number of five companies competing for the first time in
Montréal, including the Czech Republic-marking the first participation by a
Czech firm in Montréal in 21 years of competition-several styles were
presented to the public and the 19-member jury. The role of the jury,
comprised of members of the public, was to assess the performances based on
the quality of the fireworks used, pyromusical design, synchronization and
overall appreciation, before presenting the winners with the highly coveted
fireworks trophies.
The competing countries - Australia, France, Argentina, Sweden, Spain,
the Czech Republic, Portugal, Canada and the United States, all did justice to
their art and delivered high-quality performances.
"The Montréal public has rarely witnessed so many pyromusical
performances of such a high calibre in a single season," stated Martyne
Gagnon, Director of the International des Feux Loto-Québec. "Whether it was
flawless synchronization, a powerful musical score, new special effects or
colourful displays, all the participants stood out during the competition.
Once again this year, the Montréal International Fireworks Competition has
taken a 2,000-year-old tradition to new heights and has confirmed its position
as the world's most prestigious fireworks competition."

Big Bang

At 10 p.m., following the official trophy-presentation ceremony, La Ronde
will unveil a magnificent non-competitive closing fireworks display called
"Big Bang." During this large-scale pyromusical journey, Italy's well-known
fireworks firm Panzera S.A.S. will present a program illustrating the creation
of the world. This particularly ambitious stylistic exercise, designed by
Pierpaolo Serafino, will take spectators on a journey through the various
phases of the evolution of the universe, beginning with a representation of
emptiness and moving on to the creation of the stars, planets and colours, as
well as offering a stunning depiction of the heavens. In addition, fireworks
fans will be impressed by the host of new lemon- and orange-coloured products
used to represent the sun, as well as powerful new crackling candles and
whistles.
Pierre Walder, the show's Musical and Artistic Director, has prepared a
particularly unique musical repertory for this fireworks extravaganza. Made up
of classical compositions, film soundtracks, sound effects and, between the
different scenes, a sound carpet evoking tiny showers of light, the musical
score will alternate between tension and release in order to illustrate the
grandeur of an event that was witnessed by no one but that will capture the
imagination of all.

The French interview reveals a lot of information.

Here are some interesting quotes:

"Musclé, très solide, évidament en partie plus bruillant que nous les présentons d'habitude"

"des announces très courtes" (narration...)

"tapis musical composé de poussière d'étoiles" (durant les narrations)

"à la fin [...] le soleil" (the finale)

"ensuite, on arrivera sur terre"

Basicly, if I understand correctly, after the finale, the show will continue and that presents the 5th quote?

I'm really hoping it will be a massive show. That'll make up for the weak finales we had this year, for finale fans!

Thank you for this press release, Enkil.

However, the PR service of La Ronde has made some mistakes in the press release. In the first paragraph, we should read "starting its third decade". The second decade has been closed last year, of course. In the French version, another mistake: the competition "qui entamait une deuxième décennie", rather than "une troisième décennie".

Moreover, the sentence "With a record number of five companies competing for the first time in Montréal..." is false. We had the same number of recruits in 2003, as all fanatics know.
