A new ferris wheel is going to be built for June 2017 in the Old Port, near the Bassin Bonsecours:

Each of the 42 in-closed gondolas has a capacity of 8 people. It is 33% higher than La Ronde icon (60m instead of 45m), but much lower than similar attractions in Orlando, London, and Paris. The new wheel will be seen from La Ronde, but is much closer than the Fire on Ice location. I wonder to what extent it may impact this winter event. For sure, this section of the Old Port will be dramatically transformed.
