Increasing sponsorship to the competition

In 2015, Six Flags has registered into the Quebec government Registry of lobbyists. I have reported and monitored this situation through various posts, in this forum, since then (see the August 4th 2015 post, here, for the initial report, and here for the previous update). The latest development is that Six Flags has renewed its registration on August 1st, 2017, now set to expire on July 10, 2018. The wording of the mandate is still the same:

Négociation d'un amendement au bail emphytéotique entre Parc Six Flags Montréal, S.E.C. et la Ville de Montréal en date du 2 mai 2001 visant à modifier les termes de ce bail, incluant (i) les montants payables, les calculs des montants payables et l’échéancier des paiements, et (ii) les dispositions en lien avec L'International des Feux Loto-Québec.

An interesting point are figures regarding the amount of funding provided by Loto-Québec, as well as tourism organizations. When we click on the upper right button and we compare current figures with previous ones, we see an increase in sponsorship:

Ministère du tourisme du Québec: $330,000 to $440,000 (+33% or $110,000)
Loto-Québec: $1,000,000 to $1,250,000 (+25% or $250,000)
Tourisme Montréal: $10,000 to $15,000 (+50% or $5000)

I wonder to what extent these figures should allow us to hope for an increase of the number of displays scheduled in 2018.

		Very interesting news Fred! Let's hope the increased sponsorship amounts translate to a competition with more than 6 competitors! Paul.

		Thank you for this update, Fred. Indeed, this is encouraging, and I hope that it could favor a larger number of competitors (and, ultimately, a return to nine to ten displays) by Summer 2018! Trav.
