Sunday's display will be the 240th I've seen from La Ronde plus another 24 I watched from Notre Dame. Since 1993, I've missed only 5 displays (2 in 1995) and 2 in the mid 2000s due to working my own shows and 1 due to being in the UK for my Mum's 80th birthday!

ArtiDan:
Working on the field is another step, the real thing.
Indeed — I did 13 Canada Day displays over the years in the Eastern Townships, with 9 of those being pyromusicals, including one with specially commissioned music (see https://youtu.be/HhGydv82SkI?si=vE-dAzc5ChIUxqU6) — anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread further!

@Smoke, @Norandois

Pretty interesting stories too.

All of you guys make me feel like a rookie! ;)

Sorry to keep going with the «out of thread subject», but I couldn't help but watched the video.

Soundtrack is dark, mysterious!

At 7:45... Energy 52 — Café Del Mar... One of my favorite dance/techno song ever. So emotional! I don't remember having the chance to witness a display segment using this song at LaRonde...

Pretty intense finale too! Well done!

:)

Indeed! It was composed by Sebastien Lavoie as part of his research into electro acoustics. There were many samples of native singing and dancing used, hence the name Pyro Pow-wow.

This was a local town's Canada Day display and we did the best we could with the budget we had. I'm grateful to Royal Pyrotechnie for the opportunity to design a show like this. I must give credit to Yannick Roy as he did a lot of the detailed work in ShowDirector.
