Hi Pierre,
Happy new year to you as well! I'm doing very well, thank you.

I was confident that you would be very much thrilled by the arrival of our first Winter storm on Boxing Day (I have some pictures to show you from my residence). Additionally, it also appears that your dog also shares the very same passion as you, Pierre, so that ended up in perfect acquiescence for the both of you! However, I suppose it's best that you make the most of it since a good portion of the amount received will be gone by the end of this week. Then again, knowing our weather, another Winter storm may very well move in the region after this warm sector concludes; if it concludes, that is.
Of course, as I'm enjoying this appealing warm January weather, much like last year, I have to say that my perception is changing on a general outlook of "regular" Winter weather altogether. That said, I feel more than blessed to see, with my own eyes, that it feels like Spring is extending itself in what is known as the coldest month of the year. I suppose much of the expressions are based on ideas that go beyond our prolonged conformity since it's just that natural zeal that comes about when warm weather establishes itself when you don't expect its presence in the least bit of chance. In fact, in the 1990s, rain was totally ignored and unheard of back then, and now, it seems like the inevitable truth that the Earth is warming is becoming a true reality, regardless if it's derived from human or natural causes.
In the long run, the idea is still very much questionable, so don't worry too much about that since this is merely a hypothesis and can still be related to our normal mid-latitude anomalies; keep in mind that January 2004, for example, ended up being one of the coldest in history, so this may not necessarily be a predominant warming effect
at all times. I'm a firm believer in global warming and it is definitely important that many consider it to an optimum degree since we are seeing the effects all over the world more and more every year with an increasing amount of incidents (like that giant ice shelf that broke off and caused those tremors upon impact in extreme Northern Canada), but at mid-latitudes, like where we are located, the weather still is variable because of our proximity and vulnerability between invasions of both warm air from the South and cold Arctic air to the North, so the jet stream is an important aspect to consider in determining things like blocking effects causing contradictory weather between the East and the West; thus conceals any implication based on global warming altogether. Again, on the other hand, nation-wide average temperatures have increased over recent years, so that, once again, brings up the issue of global warming! It's a complex issue...
Anyhow, here are the pictures I promised you (I showed these to Enkil already):

As for the fireworks, I'm very happy to know that you've experienced many neat displays! I'm hoping the new firm representing Canada this year will do an impeccable job given the feedback I've heard amongst users here.
Good to hear from you, as always, Pierre, and, again, a very happy new year to you, too, my friend.

And don't worry, I haven't forgotten about your email.
Trav.
