When you take into account the size of the area and the budget, its really similar. Its just done on a smaller scale. The finale last night lasted a good 2 mins and it was loud and done on mulitple levels with different amounts of intensity. And like ive said ive seen worse finales at la ronde.

Bonjour tout le monde,

Ouf!!! On a eu droit à TOUT un spectacle hier soir avec la firme BEM!
Je croyais sincèrement que le feu ne serait pas aussi bon que celui de Royal Pyrotechnie, le deuxième spectacle que l'on a vu le 9 décembre dernier. Je me suis trompé.

Enkil.....The finale given by BEM was better than a lot of Summer displays I have seen in the past, but not as intense as some of those really nice ones.....but the finale was quite something to see. It was a finale not to be missed for sure!

Je voulais savoir.......où a lieu le feu d'artifice du 31 décembre et à quelle heure?

Je tiens à vous souhaiter à tous, un très Joyeux Noël!

To all of you, a very Merry Christmas!

Pierre

Hi Pierre,

I'm very impressed and quite surprised to hear that the degree of intensity, with regards to the finale, was perhaps even greater than some of those we have seen in the Summer recently, though this is just equally another statement since surpassing most of the endings we've seen in the competition for the past 2 years is relatively easy. However, if this was the case, then I'm sure you guys were treated to a very dedicated display altogether, my friend. Seriously, the ending alone must've caught you off guard since your expectations were low altogether, but other than that, the show, according to everyone's analysis, was well concocted under many aspects. I was actually enamored by the positive comments to both the flamboyant Christmas colors and the ideal assisting synchronization. I'm also sure that there were some beautiful special effects, such as those unique concentric ring shells, or perhaps some of our personal favorites; the shell of shells!

And Pierre, I'm sure you must be enjoying the snow today, as I mentioned a couple days yesterday in the "Merry Christmas" thread.

Happy holidays to everyone!

Trav.

Hey Travis,

How are you my friend? It's great to hear from you.

Yes, I think we were treated to excellent shows this year during the "Feux sur glace" festival....specially with the displays given by Royal Pyrotechnie on December 9th and BEM on December 23rd!

And yes, when I woke up on the morning of the 26th, it was with IMMENSE pleasure that I could see the white cover on the ground, along with those huge snowflakes falling ever so slowly from the sky. It was 9:45 in the morning, so I grabbed my coat and went out for a long walk with Loulou, my adorable dog who happens to love snow too.....LOL

There's only some 3 hours and 15 minutes left before 2007 arrives, so I take this opportunity to wish you all the best for 2007, along with a lot of pleasure witnessing the fireworks of 2007!

Happy 2007 to everyone!

Pierre

Hi Pierre,

Happy new year to you as well! I'm doing very well, thank you. I was confident that you would be very much thrilled by the arrival of our first Winter storm on Boxing Day (I have some pictures to show you from my residence). Additionally, it also appears that your dog also shares the very same passion as you, Pierre, so that ended up in perfect acquiescence for the both of you! However, I suppose it's best that you make the most of it since a good portion of the amount received will be gone by the end of this week. Then again, knowing our weather, another Winter storm may very well move in the region after this warm sector concludes; if it concludes, that is.

Of course, as I'm enjoying this appealing warm January weather, much like last year, I have to say that my perception is changing on a general outlook of "regular" Winter weather altogether. That said, I feel more than blessed to see, with my own eyes, that it feels like Spring is extending itself in what is known as the coldest month of the year. I suppose much of the expressions are based on ideas that go beyond our prolonged conformity since it's just that natural zeal that comes about when warm weather establishes itself when you don't expect its presence in the least bit of chance. In fact, in the 1990s, rain was totally ignored and unheard of back then, and now, it seems like the inevitable truth that the Earth is warming is becoming a true reality, regardless if it's derived from human or natural causes.

In the long run, the idea is still very much questionable, so don't worry too much about that since this is merely a hypothesis and can still be related to our normal mid-latitude anomalies; keep in mind that January 2004, for example, ended up being one of the coldest in history, so this may not necessarily be a predominant warming effect at all times. I'm a firm believer in global warming and it is definitely important that many consider it to an optimum degree since we are seeing the effects all over the world more and more every year with an increasing amount of incidents (like that giant ice shelf that broke off and caused those tremors upon impact in extreme Northern Canada), but at mid-latitudes, like where we are located, the weather still is variable because of our proximity and vulnerability between invasions of both warm air from the South and cold Arctic air to the North, so the jet stream is an important aspect to consider in determining things like blocking effects causing contradictory weather between the East and the West; thus conceals any implication based on global warming altogether. Again, on the other hand, nation-wide average temperatures have increased over recent years, so that, once again, brings up the issue of global warming! It's a complex issue...

Anyhow, here are the pictures I promised you (I showed these to Enkil already):

And here is our Christmas tree and presents on Christmas Eve:

As for the fireworks, I'm very happy to know that you've experienced many neat displays! I'm hoping the new firm representing Canada this year will do an impeccable job given the feedback I've heard amongst users here.

Good to hear from you, as always, Pierre, and, again, a very happy new year to you, too, my friend. And don't worry, I haven't forgotten about your email.

Trav.

With a few weeks delay, I finally put on PyroPlanet my ultimate article about Fire on Ice 2006. I agree that BEM's show was a great one. I especially liked the kaleidoscope shells, which reminded me the Bugano's show in June 2006. Also we were very fortunate will the weather on Dec. 23th.

Paul, I was sorry to miss you, I reach the Old Port just before 7:00pm. You were not along the hangar yet and I think that you had already left when I exited.

It is very difficult for me to decide which display was the best between Royal's and BEM's ones. Both have surprised me at some point and provided a great finale. Ampleman's show was also a very good one.

I'm confident that this event will be back next year, despite the fact that the size of the crowd was disappointing, in my opinion. It would be great to improve the event with a countdown just before each show, with a strong voice. I believe that everyone here would recommend the same name to the Old Port!

Fred
