Thank you for the news, Fred. With luck, hopefully I'll be able to make it this time around, although I'm not at all fond of the cold weather (sorry, Pierre). Perhaps we will get a mild December like last year and it will make things more comfortable!

Regardless, it's always nice to have fireworks displays leading up through the Christmas holidays!

Salut

I'm back from the press conference organized by the Old Port of Montreal this morning. The 3rd edition of the Fire on Ice was discussed. The schedule is:

Saturday, December 1st: BEM Feux d'artifice
Saturday, December 8th: Ampleman Pyrotechnie
Saturday, December 15th: Royal Pyrotechnie
Saturday, December 22th: FAE Pyrotechnie

The displays are scheduled at 8:00pm (one hour later than previous years).

An interesting news is the new entrant, FAE Pyrotechnie, from Sherbrooke area. FAE won the first prize at the Canadian Lac des Nations competition last summer.

More to come on PyroPlanet.com!

Thank you very much for keeping us informed Fred.

I am really looking forward to seeing what kind of display FAE will offer!

And I am really looking forward to December!

Thank you kindly, Fred. I hope to make the displays taking place on the 8th, 15th and 22nd since on the 1st I'll likely be studying for a final as well as writing a research paper based on climate.

On a side note, I loathe this first Winter storm of the season, especially since it came so much earlier than previous years! Take care out there!

Very good article Fred - I recommend everyone reads it for your insight into the event.

I suppose it isn't too early to ask advice on the best place to watch the displays from at the Old Port. Any suggestions? I've never been to the Feux sur Glace before.

For those interested, I will be videotaping the displays.

So... was anybody else out at the Old Port tonight?

Trav was spot on with his forecast - next week I'm bringing a scarf!

The display itself was enjoyable; a sweet winter treat. I hadn't been to the Fire on Ice/Feux sur Glace before so I didn't know what expect - or where the firing was taking place! I've already scouted out my location where I'll videotape from next week.

Anyway, I have BEM's display on video. I'm not sure if I will post it to YouTube or hold off and see if Paul wants it for the Member Only Videos.

maybe you should ask paul to put up a member's section called Tyler's videos! That would be good so that he could just put them all at once ahahahaha!!!

Hey TRae,

Unfortunately, as mentioned, I was not able to make it last night due to preparing for a final exam and writing up a paper. I also suppose that the cold weather threw me off in attending as well. I've never actually been to the Fire on Ice displays myself, so I'd like to make the effort.

I'm quite glad to hear that the display was enjoyable, and I really look forward to seeing your video of it. I also hope to be able to go to next week's performance, if not then at least the last two.

As for the weather, well I know exactly what you mean in terms of dressing warmly in such cold conditions! In the mean time, as I said in my report a couple days ago, prepare yourself for the second Winter storm, which looks to be producing more snow/blowing snow than anything else (close to possibly 30 cm by the time it's all said and done).

Perhaps it's time to call it a day and take the day off school/work tomorrow.

Again, can't wait to see your video!

Salut

I have to agree with Roger in terms of the the on site amenities and such. Like I said, I hadn't been to this kind of winter event at the Old Port but I was very impressed. Free music, free outdoor ice skating (the rink serves as a fantastic vantage point for the fireworks display), and a great, friendly, family atmosphere - I highly recommend heading out to catch at least one of the displays.
