Now that the 39th edition has concluded, our attention turns to the 2026 season, which will mark the 40th anniversary of this event. This milestone was originally scheduled for 2024 but was postponed due to the two-year suspension caused by the pandemic.
During the closing ceremony on July 31, 2025, Benoît Lefrançois, Loto-Québec's Corporate Vice President of Responsible Marketing, Social Responsibility, and Public Affairs, concluded his speech by saying: «I look forward to seeing you in 2026 to celebrate the 40th International Fireworks Competition Loto-Québec.» I have received confirmation that Loto-Québec's multi-year sponsorship contract with the Montreal International Fireworks Competition, set to expire in 2025, has been extended by one year. Therefore, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the 40th edition is confirmed.
Various rumors are circulating about the features of this special edition. The most serious rumor is that it will bring together competitors who have already won a Jupiter award. However, it is unclear if only recipients of the Gold Jupiter will be invited, as was the case in the 20th edition in 2004, or if competitors who have won Jupiters of various colors will be invited, as was the case in the 30th edition in 2014.
The organizers seem to have a lot of ideas. We will see which of them will materialize.
Stay tuned!
