!!!!!!!!!!IPON will represent Italy in the Hannover fireworks competition the next summer. !!!!!!!



You know what it means?!

It means that IPON is back into the fireworks competition scene, so maybe they will represent Italy again in Montreal. Don't know if this year or the next one, but guys it seems that IPON is back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On aura tout vu is an idiom and therefore it can't be translated word-for-word. In this context, its purpose is irony. The way I understand it, I think larry meant that he's surprised that Apogee might represent Canada instead of a firm like Ampleman/Fiatlux, Royal or Garden City Display Fireworks.

Either that, or he thinks Apogee is not up to the task.

As I don't know Apogee, I think it would be better indeed if larry explained his opinion a bit more.

Heads-up everyone - the firms will be announced really really soon!

This is a very interesting (on-competition) line up! It's a bit surprising that no more than two recruits are listed (especially since no new entrant was welcomed in 2009 due to the 25th edition formula), but we will have the opportunity to enjoy anticipated shows from teams which have achieved great performances.

It's especially true for Macedo's, Fireworks Spectaculars, Göteborgs and Brézac. The latter, winner of the Silver Jupiter in 2006 (following a great display in 2001 which wasn't awarded), will compete for the Gold Jupiter, for sure. I consider that among the French teams which have competed in Montreal since ten years, Brézac is the most capable of fulfilling the high standards of the competition. It was a shame to not have the Swedish team on the podium in 2005 and I'm looking forward to discover what Göteborgs has in store for us! Brad Dezotel and his team from Fireworks Spectaculars have shown what they are made of in 2007 with a great display, which unfortunately was sapped by a major technical failure. And the Portuguese entrant has several fans since its first appearance in 2006.

I don't think pyrotechnic has a long history in Eastern Europe. It's great to have a recruit from Poland. According to my record, Western will be the 75th company to display a show from La Ronde's firing ramps.

San Tai won Bronze Jupiter in 2001. I am not sure what to expect from this less known company, but its position in the calendar makes it very difficult to reach the podium. Hopefully, Pirotecnica Soldi will experience a better fate than in the past. Their last show, which was excellent for 28 minutes, ended with a dramatic failure during the finale. This one will be the 200th on-competition display.

What is more surprising is to learn that the new Groupe Fiatlux-Ampleman is in charge of the off-competition, tribute to Céline Dion, display. Following the closing show in 2009, I can only hope that Ampleman's creative force, Éric Cardinal, will be the designer of the show without any intrusion from Fiatlux's people. He did good displays with soundtracks made of popular music, he is able to design a great show for sure, with more altitude than Fiatlux. Cardinal has also been involved in several off-competition displays presented by Panzera.

That's a very mixed list of participants. I'm a bit disappointed because they could have chosen better firms for some countries.
-I'm sure that San Tai will have a really good show In contrary to what Fred said, i think that San tai is quite a popular company. Many firms buy their shells because of their superb quality, almost comparable to the shells of Japan
-Although italy's not vaccalluzzo i'm very excited to see what soldi will come up with this time. Their show in 2006 was really great except for the technical problems. Hopefully they will have a much better show this time that will be executed perfectly.
-Surex' show will probably be the biggest surprise. It could either be a hit or a miss. I hope that they don't use too much cakes.
- Macedo's show will probably be a good one
- I don't know this american company a lot. From the show i have seen from in the celebration of light, they have good shells. Some of their candles and mines even changes color 3 times and they go up really high
- I'm very excited to see what fireworks spectacular would show this time. It sounds like they had a very good show last time they joined
- Gotenburg's the firm going to root for in this season! I've never seen them do bad shows, always filled with creativity I hope that they use some awesome music that's popular now
- Brezac's show will surely be one of the most creative this season just like their show in 2006

Well those are my thoughts about the firms this coming season

Well, I'm also a bit desapointed. It's not a bad shedule, but they could have chosen better firms (in my humble opinion). This is Montreal, I think all companies want to take part of this competition...

The best points for me: Göteborgs, Brezac and Surex. (Also maybe San Tain, but I'm not sure wat to expect, anyway I'm happy to see this firm on the shedule again)

The worst: Soldi (sorry but Vaccalluzzo would have been much much better, in my opinion is one of the best fireworks companies) - Fireworks Spectaculars Canada: A new company from Canada would have been better , maybe Apogee?) Macedo: I'm not into Macedo's displays, just a question of taste.

And finally Western Enterprises, I don't know what to say because I don't know them, anyway I saw their display in Vancouver and it was a bit simple. But Vancouver is Vancouver and Montreal is Montreal, and all displays from USA i've seen in Montreal are greta, so let's see....

It's good to see the full 2010 schedule displayed on the homepage. The schedule itself is interesting, and I'm happy to see that at least one of the firms that I predicted, Fireworks Spectaculars Canada, appeared to represent Canada. I'm particularly looking forward to Italy, Portugal, Sweden, U.S.A, Poland (mainly due to making a debut), and Canada.

The aspect that I'm disappointed about the most is that there is no closing display following the awards ceremony yet again. Is this the trend now? I was also hoping that I.P.O.N would return for Italy, but after seeing what Soldi concocted in 2006 (though a pity about the finale), it should be quite a display this year. I'm also wondering what the reason is behind adding in a separate display as a hommage to Celine Dion, and right in the middle of the competition - for me, this occupies a space for another potential entrant.

All in all, though, not a bad listing. Here's hoping for ideal weather for all of our participants.
